Systems Engineer - Ops Lead

Elite Technical is seeking a senior level Systems Engineer for a key direct-hire position with a highly regarded technology leader located in Florida-s beautiful Space Coast region. Our client is an industry innovator providing advanced communications and information systems to both government and commercial markets. This position resides in their Mission Networks business area, and we are seeking a talented Systems Engineer-Operations Lead to help support the next generation of software-defined networking infrastructure.

The duties of this Systems Engineer will include:

• Identify tool requirements required for effectively operating an IP/SDN-based Network Design, automated provisioning, event correlation and presentation;
• Define appropriate skill set and division of responsibilities from design to provisioning to operations across the organization;
• Engage with customer engineering, operations, and management personnel to define and document the customer-s CONOPS and requirements;
• Decompose requirements and allocating them to different subsystems or cross-functional domains;
• Conduct trade studies as required for designing solutions for customer needs;
• Serve as the technical lead for proposal efforts, including creation of a technical baseline, cost determination, ROM creation, and technical writing for the proposal volume;
• Lead design review efforts and hold design reviews with internal and/or external stakeholders, and ensure design reviews are planned, executed, and action items closed;
• Lead efforts to follow systems engineering processes throughout the lifecycle of the product or service, including writing and upkeep of the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP);
• Tailor systems engineering processes as appropriate to service based or commercial based contracts;
• The systems engineer may be responsible for providing technical oversight in the following domains:
• Assess and manage technical risk on the program;
• Manage change and champion change management initiatives;
• Work with other teams for scheduling and technical conflicts;
• Lead program Configuration Control Boards:
- Network services and applications
- FAA NextGen Programs
- Service, commercial, and or product based contracts
- Various wireless communication protocols.

Required Skills

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent (preferably in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Networking, Information Technology or a related field), and a minimum of 10 years of applicable experience.
8 years of experience and domain knowledge of L1 through L4 of the OSI Model.
8 years of experience working with L2 and L3 protocols: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, IBGP, EBGP, IS-IS, and MPLS.
8 years of experience working with Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) and Network Management System (NMS) applications used to monitor networked devices.
8 years of experience working with Long Term Evolution (LTE), VPN, and DMVPN technologies.
Minimum 10 years- experience in systems engineering and/or technical leadership.

Preferred Additional Skills:
Experience working in an Operations Call Center or Data Center.
Prior experience required in maintaining high service levels in a demanding customer support services environment.
CCENT, CCNA, or CCNP preferred.
Team-player, able to work in a large program environment and have good communications skills.
Strong experience in the Systems Engineering Lifecycle.
Previous systems engineering leadership experience.
Self-starter, with high initiative and drive.
ITIL v3 preferred.
Master-s degree or equivalent (MSEE, MSCE, MSSE, MCS [computer science] or a related field).
Familiarity with FAA programs.
