Join a leading federal defense contractor on a mission-critical, long-term contract supporting the US Space Force Space Development Agency (SDA). You will design Traffic Data Models for the Ground, Management and Integration (GMI) program, directly contributing to the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA), one of the most important space defense initiatives in the country.
Location: Hybrid (3 days onsite per week)
Choose from: Huntsville, AL | Scottsdale, AZ | Grand Forks, ND | Chantilly, VA
Why This Role Matters:
This is not routine systems engineering. You will help build and evolve the ground infrastructure that tracks missile threats in real time, working alongside an elite team on systems that protect national security. Your work will directly influence how satellite constellations communicate with ground networks to detect and track missiles.
What You Will Do:
- Decompose complex requirements and model traffic data flow from satellite constellations to ground networks
- Design pre-planned and ad-hoc scheduling strategies for satellite services used in missile tracking
- Analyze real missile tracking data to validate and refine traffic models
- Identify and apply AI-driven solutions to continuously improve system performance and mission outcomes
If you are ready to apply your systems engineering expertise to a mission that matters, we want to hear from you.
- Must be US Citizen due to government requirement
- Requires active DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Polygraph.
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field and 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
- Agile experience preferred.
Technical Skills Required:
- Minimum of 8+ years of recent modeling of communication data, preferably using satellite constellations and ground networks
- Satellite to Ground RF communication protocol experience, end to end packet prioritization and routing, or traffic modeling experience
- Must have experience in space ground communications, space ground Radar/IR, etc.
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as, CAMEO or MagicDraw.
- Programming and Tools Skills: Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling.
Bonus Skills You Might Bring:
- Recent experience with missile tracking systems design and architecture, and sensor fusion techniques
- Recent experience designing logic, assessing and scheduling satellite services to track missiles
- Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment
- Experience with image processing (collection, handling, storing, and analysis)
- Prefer recent designing and developing systems that can solve complex problems using algorithms
- Prefer recent algorithm development and tuning for specific mission parameters
