Our client has reached a high level of maturity in their AI journey through extensive vendor partnerships and custom development and are now transitioning this capability in-house to drive long-term internal business strategies. We are seeking an AI/ML Business Data Analyst who will act as a dedicated internal advocate to take ownership of this data, look after our best interests, and reduce our reliance on external vendors. This is a Data Analyst-focused role, not a developer position. The target candidate is a sharp data professional with a foundational background or deep interest in AI/ML (1-2 years of basic exposure). The primary objective is to audit current-state AI metrics, build executive-facing dashboards, gather business requirements, and design use cases to expand our AI footprint across the enterprise. During the first 60-90 days, you will work closely with our external vendors to seamlessly transition responsibilities, map data dependencies, and establish internal strategic control.
Core Responsibilities
1. AI Data Analysis & Trend Identification
- Review and analyze the current state of our AI/ML initiatives and vendor-delivered bot data to recommend high-impact footprint expansions.
- Dig into complex datasets to identify actionable data trends, translating raw metrics into clear insights that bring meaningful AI change to the organization.
- Evaluate model performance indicators provided by vendors to protect company interests, ensuring data quality and operational efficiency.
2. Requirements Gathering & AI Use Case Creation
- Perform traditional business analysis functions, including the generation of highly detailed AS-IS and TO-BE documentation to guide AI expansion across corporate business units.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to gather requirements, effectively translating user needs into workable technical specifications and ROI business cases.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and construct clear AI/ML use cases that solve real-world problems.
3. Executive Dashboarding & Presentation
- Design, build, and maintain highly visual, clean dashboards optimized for executive-level review.
- Synthesize complex AI and bot metrics into easily scannable visual summaries that help leadership make immediate, data-driven decisions.
- Present findings and recommendations confidently to non-technical audiences across the organization.
- Education/Experience Blend: A Bachelor-s degree with 3-5 years of professional analytics experience is preferred, OR 7+ years of equivalent practical analytics experience without a degree.
- AI/ML Domain Knowledge: 1-2 years of foundational exposure to or strong practical interest in AI/ML concepts (e.g., predictive modeling, NLP, automation). You must be capable of mapping data trends to strategic AI improvements, though advanced model development or coding skills are not required.
- Industry Background: Professional experience within a Healthcare Payor or Provider (Insurance/Health Plan) environment is highly preferred due to the specific data sets and terminology used. Candidates coming from a Financial Services background will be considered as a strong secondary option.
Technical & Soft Skills
- Dashboarding Mastery: Proven proficiency in building executive-ready dashboards. Experience with Looker is a strong plus, but hands-on expertise with Tableau or Power BI is fully acceptable.
- Business Analysis & Documentation: Expert-level capability in traditional business analysis, specifically requirement elicitation, technical documentation writing, and AS-IS / TO-BE workflow mapping.
- Data Manipulation: Strong foundational capabilities inspecting data structures. Because vendors deliver prepared bot and AI data streams directly to this role, advanced engineering is not required, but SQL querying skills are a strong plus.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You must be able to describe clearly how you identify data trends and articulate the exact business value they offer to stakeholders.
