This position is a critical resource within the Account Management Team providing consultative expertise on benefits, products, and capabilities to B2B corporate clients (companies, not provider offices or members).
The Account Manager is directly responsible for aggressively growing group enrollment by marketing to the client's employee base and leading them through the Open Enrollment season. You will build and maintain effective long-term relationships with key senior-level decision-makers and HR representatives, conducting 10 to 15 client meetings per week.
Essential Functions
40% | Client Management & Retention
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients' HR staff, brokers, and consultants.
- Lead benefit interpretation, claims analytics, and issue resolution.
- Partner with the account management team on sales strategy and benefit design modeling for new and renewing business.
- Travel to local and nationwide client locations to meet requirements.
35% | Relationship Cultivation & Advisor Role
- Build strong relationships with clients, acting independently as a trusted advisor.
- Collect and analyze data regarding consumer behavior to understand changing client needs.
- Document, track, coordinate, and close account issues, communicating results back to the client.
10% | Open Enrollment Strategy & Execution
- Participate in benefit analysis and develop structured programs to engage members.
- Drive open enrollment strategy, wellness services deployment, and implementation oversight.
15% | Education & Presentations
- Conduct 10-15 meetings per week educating HR reps, owners, and employees on new benefit offerings.
Licenses & Certifications
- Active State Producer License: A current Life and Health (L&H) insurance license is strictly required.
- Must be issued in the jurisdictions of Maryland, DC, and Virginia ONLY.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in sales, sales support, implementation, benefit administration, service, or account management.
- Industry Knowledge: Must have Healthcare insurance payor knowledge. A basic working knowledge of Dental coverage is preferred.
- Education: Bachelor-s degree preferred.
- Communication: Pristine, executive-level communication and presentation skills are critically important.
- Mobility: Must have reliable transportation to travel extensively to regional client sites.
- Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required; basic working knowledge of PowerPoint is preferred.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive under general supervision in a fast-paced environment with shifting Q4 deadlines and workloads.
