Cisco Switch Engineer

Our client, an IT Services organization supporting commercial and federal clients is seeking an experienced Cisco Switch Engineer to lead a SAN migration project at data center locations in Ashburn, VA and El Segundo, CA.

The engineer must be available to go onsite for all physical installation and migration activities, with flexibility to complete scripting updates, management configuration, and post-install support remotely.

Responsibilities:

- Install and configure Cisco MDS 9718 switches at both sites
- Migrate from Brocade Series 7 to Cisco MDS infrastructure
- Perform zoning, VSAN configuration, validation, and cutover support
- Modify existing management scripts from Brocade CLI to Cisco NX-OS CLI
- Set up Cisco management GUI and train customer on usage
- Provide post-migration administrative support as needed

El Segundo: New fiber runs (handled by customer)
Ashburn: Utilize existing fiber

Required Skills

Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with SAN switching technologies.
- Strong expertise with Cisco MDS (9700 series preferred).
- Proven experience migrating from Brocade SAN switches to Cisco MDS platforms.
- Deep knowledge of Fibre Channel, zoning, VSANs, and SAN best practices.
- Experience working with and converting CLI-based management scripts.
- Ability to perform physical rack/stack and data center installation work.
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in enterprise data center environments.
- Familiarity with storage arrays and SAN connectivity validation.
- CCNP Data Center
