Our client, a leading federal defense contractor has a contract opening for a Senior Digital Hardware Design Engineer to join a cross-disciplinary team responsible for developing tactical radio hardware.
These programs help to ensure robust and secure communications for the warfighter. This role includes schematic design and layout of hardware with ARM processors and microcontrollers, DDR RAM (DDR3, DDR4, LPDDR4) memory interfaces, and digital interfaces (e.g. I2C, SPI, SDIO).-
This position is fully on-site or Hybrid/Flex. Some program assignments will require a 100% on-site presence.
- Due to the nature of work being performed, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Requires a Bachelor-s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field and 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience
- An understanding of the hardware development process throughout the lifecycle of a program, including design for manufacturing and design for test.
- Knowledge of Siemens Xpedition or similar tools for schematic entry, constraint definition, and signal integrity/power integrity analysis.
- Experience designing PCBs/PWBs, including using advanced materials, packaging techniques, and high-speed interfaces.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills, breaking down complex technical problems logically and finding efficient solutions.
- Cross-disciplinary communication skills, working effectively with software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
- Team collaboration, offering and receiving feedback constructively, and mentoring junior engineers when needed.
Preferred skills or experiences:
- Schematic capture and layout design of digital subsystems and components for Software Defined Radios (SDRs)
- Use of lab test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment
