We are seeking an execution-focused Engineering Manager with a strong mechanical engineering background to lead our internal team in Gulfport, MS. In this role, you will focus entirely on driving progress, optimizing workflows, and delivering high-quality fiberglass manufacturing products for the U.S. Navy. You will not be responsible for managing customer meetings or client relations. Instead, you will be the internal driving force that removes roadblocks, maintains strict defense quality standards, and keeps our manufacturing engine moving fast.
This is a full-time, on-site position operating on a 4/10 schedule, meaning you work four 10-hour days and get every Friday off.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of mechanical engineers and technicians to meet strict defense timelines.
- Foster a culture of accountability, high speed, and continuous improvement on the manufacturing floor.
- Align internal resources to ensure all team members work on high-priority manufacturing tasks.
Execution and Speed
- Drive internal production schedules and relentlessly ask, "How fast can we get this done?"
- Identify bottleneck areas in the fiberglass fabrication process early and proactively eliminate obstacles.
- Keep projects moving forward smoothly from initial engineering layouts to final Naval product delivery.
Process and Quality Optimization
- Streamline engineering workflows to get products out as efficiently as possible.
- Balance rapid development cycles with the strict quality control standards required for Navy contracts.
- Implement best practices in fiberglass manufacturing, structural testing, and mechanical design.
Experience and Education
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, with a proven track record in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience managing or leading engineering teams is required.
- Experience in fiberglass, composites, or heavy marine/defense manufacturing is highly preferred.
Technical Skills and Clearance
- SolidWorks proficiency is required for evaluating layouts and driving technical execution.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret Clearance is a plus).
- Ability to work on-site in Gulfport, MS, on a compressed 4/10 work schedule.
Core Traits
- Execution-First Mindset: Strong focus on internal delivery and operations rather than external client management.
- Problem Solver: Ability to quickly identify technical, tooling, or procedural roadblocks on the floor and fix them.
- Urgency and Drive: Passion for efficiency, speed, and maintaining rigorous military-grade quality.
