Immediate opportunity for a Federal Security Officer (FSO) to support a government entity in NW Washington DC. This opportunity is perfect for a Mid Level professional who is seeking career growth and stability to eventually become a government employee. The candidate will be responsible for supporting the following tasks:
a. Occasionally escort visitors as may be required (not often).
b. Assist processing personnel security clearances and adjoining personnel security clearances to the appropriate Security Management Office within the Defense Information Security System (DISS).
c. Verify security clearance statuses within the appropriate security clearance repositories used by the U.S. federal government.
d. Facilitate the enactment of applications within the Trusted Associate Sponsorship System (TASS) to aid issuance of Common Access Cards (CAC).
e. Coordinate with Department Heads and or Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to obtain authorization to issue a TASS application and authorization
f. Support security administration of the Security Management Office to sustain continued compliance with NISPOM and command security directives; support the conduct of internal / external audits to assess and measure state of security readiness; conduct follow-up remediation and/or corrections as may be required.
g. Announce, Track and report annual security related Training and Awareness objectives required for reporting under the Federal Information Systems Management Act (FISMA)
h. Assist in the conduct of meetings and briefings related to security requirements; coordinate and schedule meetings on behalf of the Security Manager / CORs as may be required.
i. Security Management Office administration and management; clerical functions.

- Must have an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- BS Degree preferred, HS Diploma acceptable
- 6+ years of relevant experience as a Federal Security Officer (as described in the job description, A thru I)
- Seeking experience working within a SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility)
- Strong work ethic and willing to take on responsibility; superior ethical and professional acumen is a MUST.
- Excellent written and verbal communications; able to develop professional caliber prose documents.
