Hospital Administrator - Tampa

Our client, a leading name in pet healthcare, is looking for a Hospital Administrator to lead the business side of a fast-paced, 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital. You will partner directly with the Medical Director and hospital leadership team, owning the operational, financial, and people strategies that keep the hospital running smoothly and set it up for long-term success.

What You Will Do:

Lead Hospital Operations:
- Own day-to-day operations for a 24-hour specialty and emergency hospital
- Keep every shift running efficiently, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Build smarter workflows that improve patient care, client experience, and team performance
- Work with department leaders to spot bottlenecks and fix them for good
- Maintain a hospital that is organized, compliant, and ready for anything
- Support growth initiatives without sacrificing quality or consistency

Drive Financial Performance:
- Build and manage the annual operating budget
- Track key financial metrics and monthly P&L performance
- Find smart ways to boost profitability while protecting patient care standards
- Monitor revenue, labor costs, inventory, and overall efficiency
- Collaborate with finance and regional leadership on hospital goals
- Assess pricing strategy and recommend adjustments when needed

Build and Develop a Strong Team:
- Create a culture that is positive, inclusive, and accountable
- Recruit, hire, and onboard top veterinary talent
- Coach and mentor supervisors, technicians, client service leads, and support staff
- Lead performance reviews and career development conversations
- Champion engagement efforts that boost retention and recognition
- Handle employee relations with fairness and consistency
- Encourage strong collaboration across specialty, emergency, and support teams
- Be a visible, approachable leader that people want to work for

Optimize Staffing and Scheduling:
- Partner with leaders to keep staffing levels right for 24/7 care
- Balance labor costs with patient care needs
- Plan ahead using caseload trends and growth projections
- Support scheduling that respects work-life balance while meeting hospital demands

Required Skills

Required Skills:

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Veterinary Management, or equivalent business experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive leadership experience in veterinary medicine, preferably within a specialty or emergency hospital.
- Previous experience managing a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital or large multi-specialty practice.
- Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary hospital operations and workflow management.
- Experience with recruiting, hiring, coaching, performance management, and employee development.
- Proven financial management experience, including budgeting and P&L analysis.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities.
- Advanced communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience utilizing veterinary practice management software.

Preferred:

- Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM)
- Veterinary Technician background strongly preferred.
- Experience in specialty referral medicine.
- Experience leading organizational change and hospital growth initiatives.
- Multi-site leadership experience is a plus.
