Our client, a leading federal defense contractor has an immediate opening in Manassas, VA for a Mechanical Engineer to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics for a weapons system.
The initial contract is for 6 months with the strong potential to extend or convert based on job performance. The selected ME will be required to work onsite 3-4 days per week in Manassas, VA. Our client is flexible with a 9/80 schedule or M-F 40 hours per week
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze components and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Create and maintain mechanical solid models and drawings
- Create and manage bills of material (BOM) within data management system
- Develop fixtures and equipment to support testing and production efforts
- Generate design and interface documentation
- Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customer
- Participate in various technical and program meetings on a weekly basis
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM field and 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Strong proficiency with SolidWorks modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
- Experience with ruggedized electronics packaging for shipboard applications a plus
- Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5) a plus
- Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects
- Strong communication skills with ability to write technical papers and proposals
