Seeking a Network Engineer with an active DoD Secret clearance to join a leading federal defense contractor on a mission-critical program supporting Satellite Ground Systems. This is your chance to design and build enterprise networks that directly support national security operations, working alongside a talented cross-functional team on high-visibility deployments.
This role also requires travel up to 50%. Expect travel needs to be in surges during times of site equipment deployments. The primary locations are Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota and Redstone Arsenal, AL.
Primary duties:
- Documents network plans and designs, installs components, and configures services to meet project requirements.
- Analyze network topologies, traffic, and capacity requirements for monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting during events.
- Between project execution events, and as part of the network team, responsible for operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networks of varying classifications, to include implementing security configurations, performing network diagnostics, identifying required corrective actions, and documenting changes in a clear and concise manner.
- Physically install devices in equipment racks and user workspaces.
- Position requires extensive work at a computer in an office environment with additional work possible in a raised floor computing environment.
- Position may require extensive travel to deployment sites in US and abroad (US Passport required)
- Must be US Citizen due to work being performed
- Must have an active DoD Secret clearance
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or a related Science or Technology (provided it is a Science degree, e.g., Bachelors of Science - Information technology), Mathematics field or equivalent (add 4 years of relevant networking exp), plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Certifications (preferred): Juniper Networks Certified Administrator (JNCIA-Junos, JNCIPis) or Cisco CCNP
- Certified DOD 8570.1-M IAT Level 2 - preferred.
- Experience integrating and configuring switches, routers, firewalls and gateways in data communications systems with IP v4 and associated TCP and UDP protocols preferred
- Strong written skills to include development and maintenance of documentation for network, system, operations, etc.
- Flexible to travel up to 50% during times of site equipment deployments in US (primary locations Grand Forks AFB, North Dakota and Redstone Arsenal, AL). Valid passport is preferred
- Must have experience with one or more of the following technologies: Juniper firewall devices, Palo Alto or Cisco
- Must have experience with Multicast, and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, etc.)
- Experience with vulnerability scanning, hardening, and resolution of findings
- Strong troubleshooting experience
- Familiarity with public cloud computing networking and services, including AWS
- Familiarity with VMware vSphere and virtual machines - preferred
- Familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system - preferred
