Risk Manager - MUOS

Our client, a leading federal defense contractor is seeking an experienced Risk Manager to join their Space Force Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) program team. The Risk Manager will be responsible for identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks associated with the MUOS program to ensure successful project execution and delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management, project management, and communication.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management plan for the MUOS program
- Identify and assess potential risks that could impact project scope, schedule, cost, and quality
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop opportunities as well as risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans
- Monitor and report on risk status and progress to senior management and stakeholders
- Conduct regular risk assessments and reviews, updating risk registers and documentation as needed
- Provide guidance and training to team members on risk management best practices and tools
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Facilitate risk workshops and meetings to promote a proactive risk & opportunity management culture within the program

Required Skills

- Must be US Citizen due to government requirement
- Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret (active Secret is preferred at time of hire)
- Bachelor-s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related STEM field and 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Agile experience preferred.
- High level of proficiency in risk management
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in risk management tools and software
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Desired:

- Experience with ROMPro is a plus
- PMP, RMP, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
- Strong ability to lead, mentor, and motivate experienced technical staff
- Experience with government contracts and defense industry standards
- Knowledge of the MUOS program and its objectives
