Our client, a leading federal defense contractor has multiple openings for Satellite Systems Engineers supporting the Space Force Golden Dome program. You will be part of a cross-functional team driving next-generation missile tracking and defense initiatives. You will help design, analyze, and integrate space and ground systems to ensure mission effectiveness across complex satellite constellations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support space/ground system architecture design using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Perform requirements analysis and decomposition into physical, functional, and logical views.
- Define system interfaces and develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
- Coordinate mission performance system design and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs).
- Conduct system probabilistic analyses and manage associated modeling workbooks.
- Contribute to system thread design, CONOPs development, and design change management.
- Support flight dynamics management, including orbit insertion, station keeping, collision avoidance, and de-orbit operations.
- Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to deliver integrated mission solutions.
- Support space-to-ground contact planning, telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C).
- Due to the nature of work being performed, U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Bachelor-s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
- Agile experience preferred.
- Strong MBSE expertise, ideally with MagicDraw.
- Experience with space mission design and architecture (sensing, communication, payload management, mission data processing).
- Familiarity with flight dynamics management, orbit determination methods, and constellation operations.
- Knowledge of CCSDS protocols, enterprise interfaces (gRPC, Kafka, REST, SNMP), and cloud-based architectures.
- Experience with RF/optical space communications, IP networking, and space ground antenna systems.
- Familiarity with OpenC3, FreeFlyer, or Meridian.
- Background in system anomaly resolution, constellation situational awareness, and trending analysis.
- Experience supporting Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs a plus.
