Elite Technical is seeking Senior Level COBOL Mainframe Developer to support our customer, a Healthcare Payor Organization, in Reston, VA. The selected candidates will be supporting our clients Mainframe ID Card Reporting department, producing larage amounts of reports for business stakeholders. This hire will be analyzing, revising and updating existing COBOL/DB2/JCL legacy code in a z/OS DB2 environment.

Required Skills

Required: This CW position requires a BA/BS in Information Systems or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 4 years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer using the following technologies:

- COBOL
- TSO/ISPF
- JCL
- Expert knowledge in DB2
- One or more: QMF, Rocket Shuttle, Topaz/DevX Workbench IDE
- MVS Utilities
- Xpediter
- FileAid, AbendAid
- Scripting and automation tools and techniques
- Jira, or similar agile tracking software

Required Skills:
- At least 4 years of mainframe-based application development experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of COBOL applications running under CICS and/or COBOL batch applications.
- Strongly demonstrated knowledge of DB2, including complex multi-table queries; imbedded SQL in COBOL, and DB2 batch applications.
- Demonstrated knowledge and best practices of testing environments and processes
- Strong testing skills
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Familiar with structured programming techniques
- Must be able to perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision
- Strong documentation skills
- JAVA experience a plus

Preferred: Knowledge of software development best practices (Kanban, Agile). Previous experience working in an Enrollment software development environment is highly desirable. Experience in the insurance and/or healthcare industry is a big plus
