Our client has an immediate Work From Home (WFH) 6-month contract position for a SolarWinds Engineer to support a long-term government contract. The SolarWinds Engineer will be able to improve upon and create new standards for the monitoring of the SolarWinds environment. This will consist of creating and utilizing already created custom properties used for alerts, reports, dashboards, application monitors, volumes and more.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate in a technical manner across multiple teams with multiple vendors involved. This will include, but not limited to Windows, Cisco, Oracle, Linux, Amazon Web Servers, Azure, VMware, NetApp and more.
- Perform project management functions when interfacing with agencies and internal teams as requirements are defined with their requests.
- Ensure the monitoring requirements are gathered, documented, and then implemented per these engagements.
- Perform queue manager functions within our ServiceNow ticketing system.
- Documentation of SolarWinds environment, Orion maps for end users and more will be required.
- Off hours work will also be required to perform weekend maintenance of SolarWinds VMs and SolarWinds application upgrades per new releases.

- Must be US Citizen or Permanent Resident due to government requirement
- Must be able clearable for Public Trust (criminal & credit)
- BS Degree in IT, Computer Sciences, etc.
- At least seven (7) years- experience working as a SolarWinds / Monitoring Lead Engineer (required)
- Strong understanding of the following modules for SolarWinds - IPAM, NPM, SRM, SAM, NCM, WPM, VMAN, VNQM, UDT and DPA
- Experience with Cisco hardware and software (Cisco Switches, Routers, IOS) (Nexus 9Ks, 7k-s, Cisco Catalyst 9300-s, Cisco ISR and ASR Routers, Cisco Firewalls - 5525, 4125, FTD, and Cisco ISE)
- Strong knowledge in PowerShell and Command Prompt commands
- Understands API queries and able to poll SolarWinds and Pingdom application via APIs
- Ability to read and understand NetFlow and packet capture data. Then use that data to determine the cause for outage when troubleshooting
- Understanding of TCP/IP, VLANS and routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) and WAN (MPLS) protocol
- Strong knowledge, in IPv4, IPv6, SolarWinds, Pingdom, PowerShell and Command Prompt commands for troubleshooting and Cisco networking to complete day to day activities
- Ability to analyze and understand data that is pulled from NetFlow, WMI, SNMP and agent polling. As well as data that is available within Splunk. That will consist of OS level (CPU, MEM, Volume), bandwidth utilization, firewall blocking, database, IIS, active directory, event logs and more.
- SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP), Cisco (CCNA) and/or Microsoft (MCSA) Certifications are preferred
