Our client, a premier federal defense contractor, is seeking a Senior PCB Layout Designer (ECAD) to support the development of advanced electronic systems for next-generation defense platforms. What You'll Do
As a Senior ECAD Specialist, you will be responsible for the complete PCB layout process-from component placement and routing through fabrication documentation-while partnering with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver robust, manufacturable designs.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop complex multilayer PCB layouts using Mentor Graphics Xpedition VX (v2.13 or later).
- Create and maintain PCB fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Perform component placement, routing, constraint management, and electronic packaging for complex circuit boards.
- Design multilayer PCBs with up to 28 layers while ensuring signal integrity and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineers within an Integrated Product Team (IPT).
- Resolve PCB design, configuration management, and manufacturing issues with fabrication and assembly vendors.
- Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to improve quality, performance, and manufacturability.
- Support multiple concurrent engineering projects while meeting quality and schedule objectives.
- Due to the nature of work being performed, U.S. citizenship is required.
- Bachelor's degree in a related specialized area or field or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience. (if no degree, must have an additional 4-years of relevant experience)
- Experience with Xpedition VX2.13 or higher
- Multi-layer experience up to 28 layers
- Knowledge of PCB design and fabrication details
- Experience-working in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment
- Extensive experience in design, drafting, detailing and packaging of PCB board layout designs that include, parts placement, PCB layout, PCB electronic packaging, PCB drawing generation
- Experience with troubleshooting design data and configuration problems with outside vendors
- Ability to multi-task and handle numerous jobs simultaneously.
- Demonstrate sophisticated problem solving skills
- Experience in MIL/Space Product Design for High Reliability.
- Prefer experience with DDR4, DDR5, Versal devices, other High Speed signals and their associated constraints management.
