Our client, a leading federal defense contractor, is seeking a Systems Engineer to help define the future of undersea weapons systems. In this role, you will capture both the problem space and the conceptual solution space for next-generation torpedo products - shaping how these systems are designed, validated, and brought to life.
You'll apply advanced digital engineering practices, including model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as NoMagic/MagicDraw/Cameo, to model system interactions, define stakeholder needs, and architect conceptual system solutions alongside validation and production strategies.
What You'll Do
- Define and model system architecture, stakeholder interactions, and system-of-interest boundaries using MBSE methodologies
- Identify, analyze, and resolve system design weaknesses across the development lifecycle
- Develop system security documentation and support accreditation/certification evaluation and testing
- Evaluate systems, networks, and information architectures to ensure compliance with applicable government security specifications
- Generate technical engineering products throughout the system development lifecycle
- Influence and shape reusable engineering frameworks applied across multiple product lines
- Identify opportunities to apply AI-driven approaches to improve engineering processes and outcomes
- Must be US Citizen due to the nature of work being performed
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience performing Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Proficiency with Cameo System Modeler MBSE Tool (aka NoMagic/MagicDraw/Cameo)
- Experience in design, development, and testing of underwater vehicle systems
- Success leading the systems development life cycle with strong proficiency with requirements management and system modeling tools
- Creative thinker motivated to apply technical standards and methodologies to develop solutions
- Collaborative team player with the ability to provide technical leadership and position others for success
- Strong presentation and communications skills with experience in the art of negotiation and the ability to meet challenging customer requirements with win-win solutions
- Identifies opportunities to apply AI for continuous improvement and innovation
