Our Client, a National Home Builder is seeking a Tax Accountant that is responsible for performing tax and accounting functions in support of the organization’s federal, state, and local tax compliance requirements. This position analyzes financial and tax information, assists with converting financial statement data to tax-basis reporting, prepares a variety of tax returns and supporting schedules, and conducts tax research as needed.
Responsibilities:
Convert internal and external financial statements from book basis to tax basis and reconcile differences.
Prepare certain selected federal tax returns, including all related schedules.
Support the development and implementation of tax planning strategies to promote tax efficiency and compliance with applicable tax laws.
Research and analyze federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and rulings to assist in determining appropriate tax treatment and resolving tax-related questions. Collaborate with and serve as the liaison to external tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory agencies as required.
Prepare and file intangible tax returns, tangible personal property tax returns, sales and use tax returns, trust returns, and gift tax returns.
Prepare Forms 1120, 1120S, 1120H, 1065, and 1040, including all supporting schedules.
Prepare and file Form 5500 for employee benefit plans.
Analyze financial data, identify potential tax implications, assist in evaluating tax positions /opportunities and developing appropriate solutions.
Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and recommend appropriate actions to maintain compliance and optimize tax positions.

Required:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
•Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive tax accounting experience
•Strong tax and accounting background
•Experience preparing federal, state, and local tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120S, 1120H, 1065, and 1040
•Experience with tax research and interpretation of tax laws and regulations
•CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA certification preferred
•Master's degree in Taxation preferred
•Public accounting firm experience preferred
•Real estate industry experience helpful
