System Administrator (AIX/Cognos)

Elite Technical is seeking an AIX/Cognos Systems Administrator to support our customer, a Federal Healthcare Insurance organization, in SW Washington, DC. The selected candidate should have strong experience with IBM's AIX operating system, WebSphere Administration, all aspects of COGNOS applications, as well as an understanding of Network Install Manager (NIM) and DB2. The project supports a Data Warehouse environment using IBM-s PureApplication pattern-deployed Virtual Machine (VM) servers. The IBM PureApplication is an appliance solution that consists of POWER servers running AIX, V7000 storage, DB2 Warehouse, WebSphere, and Cognos Business Intelligence analytics. Understanding of IBM-s PureApplication is considered a BIG PLUS, but not required.

Tasks:
- Develop reporting and automation to manage and monitor the PureApp environments
- Build, configure and manage environments on Pure Application Hardware.
- Plan, install and configure IBM WebSphere Servers and Cognos BI applications on IBM AIX virtual servers.
- Install and configure SSL Certificates in WebSphere
- Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities
- Perform user security management in WebSphere and Cognos administration tools.
- Perform WebSphere and Cognos deployments in all environments following Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Manage Unix Virtual Servers running on Pure App Hardware.
- Provide technical support for the CCTI disaster recovery environment

Required Skills

- Bachelors Degree desirable; equivalent experience required.
- 8-10 years of experience in the administration and management of AIX, WebSphere and Cognos
- Understanding of IBM-s PureApplication considered a BIG PLUS
- Experience in Administration of AIX systems and POWER hardware (physical and virtual)
- Experience in developing scripts to automate and simplify tasks
- Strong analytic, problem solving, and collaborative skills
- Familiarity with SAN storage concepts and IBM storage subsystems
