Systems Administrator

Elite Technical is seeking a systems administrator to support our highly regarded aerospace and defense client at their Dulles, VA work location on a contract for their end client, NASA. This is a contract position for which, due the nature of the work to be performed, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance.

Sampling of work responsibilities:
Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.

Required Skills

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
• 2-5 years system administration experience
• System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
• Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent
• Experience with scripting and automation tools
• Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices.
• Ability to prioritize a wide range of workloads
• Availability outside of normal working hours to resolve emergency issues promptly
• Professional demeanor and a can-do attitude
