Elite Technical is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to provide structural analysis support to our highly regarded aerospace and defense client at their Chandler, Arizona work location. This is a contract position for which, due the nature of the work to be performed, the candidate must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a secret clearance.
Sampling of job responsibilities:
Analyzes, researches and develops structural engineering specifications involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design, or operation of product to include structures, mechanical, equipment and maintenance designs.
Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables and structural modeling.
Develops solutions to a variety of complex structural problems. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, general FEA, and material science.
Additional work responsibilities may include task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers.
Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) discipline; or a Master's of Science.
Experience in performing a wide variety of classical and finite element analyses.
US Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Experience in performing a variety of classical and finite element analysis solution types. Experience with the following software tools: FEMAP and NASTRAN is preferred.
Ability to analyze, research, and develop structural engineering specifications for metallic, non-metallic and composite structures in all phases of the product life cycle from preliminary design to sustainment.
A complete understanding and application of solid mechanics principles, concepts, practices, and standards is required.
Experience providing analysis of structures including loads development and dynamics, stress, stability, fatigue, and thermal assessment.
When finite element models (FEMs) are appropriate, critical thinking skills will be required to develop a FEM to capture appropriate behavior of complex non-linear structures.
Due to the complex nature of the systems analyzed, the position requires working closely with multiple engineering disciplines.
