Automation Engineers

Two (2) openings for a Senior and Mid-level Automation Systems Engineer with our client, an ISO certified leader in the Navy, Marine, and Off-Shore markets providing innovative Electro-Mechanical, HVAC/R, Fire Suppression, and Electric Propulsion Systems in New Orleans LA. The selected candidates will be responsible for supervising all automation system design, including functional, physical, and electrical components in accordance with customer requirements. Designs will include electrical schematics of control consoles, remote I/O enclosures, generator controls, interconnect diagrams, functional diagrams, PLC programming, component configuration, technical manuals, and test procedures. The Sr Automation Systems Engineer will be expected to be a subject matter expert and be able to guide/mentor junior level engineers on staff.

Responsibilities Include:
o Program PLCs to meet customer functional specifications while in accordance with industry standards such as IEC 61131.
o Develop testing procedures for automation systems.
o Perform factory acceptance testing with customer and regulatory body in attendance.
o Work with QA, Production personnel, and Field Technicians concerning automation systems.
o Ability to work with suppliers on function of system for components selection.
o Interpret customer specifications and drawings as they apply to our scope of supply.
o Support Business Development with technical input and review into proposals for potential new business.
o Interface with customers, sales, and field installation services personnel.

Required Skills

o Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college is required (Master-s level or higher preferred).
o 15+ years of Automation Systems (shipboard preferred) experience for the Senior level. 5+ years for the Mid Level
o Familiarity with Regulatory bodies such as ABS, USCG, DNV, NEC, etc.
o Experience programming PLCs (such as Siemens, Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Emerson or Honeywell etc.).
o Experience designing HMI screens (such as Wonderware, WinCC, FactoryTalk, etc.) is required
o Knowledge of software configuration control.
o Experience with design of electrical schematics of control circuits and interconnect diagrams.
o Ability to specify cable types for our scope of supply to our customers.
o Experience using AutoCAD.
