Our client, a Federal Healthcare Insurance organization in Washington DC, has an immediate job opening for a Senior Mainframe DB2 DBA to provide day-to-day database support, specifically around application database development by creating and modifying database objects in large database/partitions. A significant amount of work will involve converting SAS programs that access DB2 to Rexx; we are seeking candidates with strong REXX knowledge, with basic level SAS knowledge. Additional responsibilities include:

-Manages overall DBMS performance and availability.
- Support application database development by creating and modifying database objects
- Execute all required DB2 utilities (performance tuning, database administration, troubleshooting)
- Support the cloning of new database environments
- Work with Security team to ensure database environments are secure
- Automate database procedures
-Independently implement complex technical system design changes for mainframe databases.
-Updates and maintains written procedures relative to implementing database projects..
-Leads problem resolution and coordination with Level 2 support. Performs integration of component level systems into solutions as documented/directed by Lead/Expert Database Engineer.
-Works with Lead/Expert Database Engineer to develop recommendations and provide implementation support. Displays and utilizes business knowledge.

Required Skills

6+ years of relative experience:
- Experience in supporting large DB2 z/OS database environment
- Experience with SAS programming (moderate knowledge)
- Experience with Rexx programming (extensive knowledge)
- Experience working with large databases, table partitions etc.
- Strong knowledge of performance tuning, database administration, troubleshooting, Utilities, for DB2
- Experience working with data migration across databases is required
- Experience developing and documenting processes, procedures, and policies for tool usage and integration.
- Experience with scripting languages such as VB Script, VBA is a plus
- z/OS integration experience with Ansible is a BIG PLUS
