Technical Editor


Elite Technical is seeking a Senior Level, Technical Editor, who can support our clients technical environment by reviewing business writing, technical writing and system documentation critical to relaying accurate and complete information regarding information technology products and services. This position works independently to set quality standards and review the work of technical writers, business analysts and other stakeholders across the organization, serving as a final quality assurance step to ensure the highest quality customer-facing business content and technical documentation possible. Responsibilities include:

- 70% --Review and edit various types of customer-facing documents, including, but not limited to, analysis documents, memorandums, requirements, functional specifications, technical specifications, manuals, test cases, test and project plans, impact assessments and software wires. Ensure the correct grammar rules are followed, the correct writing conventions are used/adhered to, the content is clear, and the presentation is well-organized and meets the organization-s approved format and style.
- 15% -- Build and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional staff across the organization who develop documents/content, and guide staff in identifying and correcting the issues related to their customer-facing documentation.
- 5% -- Create and maintain all Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents, standards and resources for the functional area. Establish style guidelines, standards and resources for the organization for use in quality assurance of documentation and content. Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for writing/editing with respect to readability, formatting, consistency and English grammar and organizational resources such as the style guide, acronyms list, glossary, etc.
- 5% -- Conduct organization-wide monthly training session on document review, the Style Guide and other resources used in/for creating customer-facing documents.
- 5% -- This role has the opportunity to reimagine and modernize the Quality Assurance function for all customer-facing documentation to improve on efficiency and effectiveness.

This position is a contract to permanent opportunity with our client, who is offering career growth and stability. Although this position is fully remote now, our client does plan to return to their Washington DC office in 2022.

Required Skills


- 8 years experience, along with a BA and/or MA in English (highly preferred)
- Experience in reviewing and editing various types of customer-facing documents, including, but not limited to, analysis documents, memorandums, requirements, functional specifications, technical specifications, manuals, test cases, test and project plans, impact assessments and software wires
- Proven ability to grasp technical concepts, analyze and verify requirements, and effectively convey information to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Superior English and grammar skills, editing skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Superior organizational skill and ability to work independently, set priorities and self-manage multiple concurrent priorities.
