Our client has immediate opening for a Computer Operator to be part of our client's Computer Operations Night Shift team located in Alexandria, VA. This opportunity is with a strong and stable Financial Institution.
This position is 100% onsite in Alexandria, VA will be on-boarded as a 6+ month with the option to be hired as a FTE with our client.
- Night Shift, 12 hour days, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM rotating 2 day off schedule

Essential Duties:
- Reports data center problems to supervisor and other appropriate personnel according to policies and procedures and provides information concerning the nature of the problem, steps taken to resolve the problem and availability impact.
- Communicates system status and tasks at shift turnover according to procedure to ensure that all actions requiring follow-up are conveyed to the next shift. Other types of communication may also be required including turnover of a written status report and/ or phone mail status messages as required.
- Assists with IT Help Desk hotline calls in supported issues during non-business hours in a professional and courteous manner. Documenting of calls using IT ticketing system, i.e., Remedy, hotline calls in shift report as appropriate.
- Performs monitoring of IT Hardware infrastructure environment utilizing LogicMonitor and IT applications environment using Dynatrace. Mainframe monitor using Mainview monitoring tool,
- Performs all tasks associated with running batch job processing on a z/Os mainframe using an enterprise job scheduler i.e., CA-ESP, CA-Jobtrac. This includes a basic knowledge of JCL and performing restarts of failed jobs or escalation to higher level support
- Performs weekend maintenance activities which includes performing server reboots, monitoring of all IT Infrastructure changes that are being implemented during the maintenance window.

- Associate or B.S. Degree in computer related discipline combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.
- Must be able to pass a criminal and drug test prior to starting
- 2-5 years of IT Support experience
- Requires excellent customer service, oral and written communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Windows Operating System
- Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux Operating System
- Basic knowledge of servers and networking.
- Should have an understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, etc.
- Willingness to learn computer operations, e.g., tape management, print distribution and console monitoring are plus.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and various shifts as needed to meet staffing requirements.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and to retrieve tapes up to 7 ft high.
