Cloud Engineer

Our client has an immediate Work From Home (WFH) 6+ month contract position for a Cloud Engineer to support a long-term government contract. The Cloud Engineer will work in an operational environment provisioning, maintaining, and decommissioning cloud Infrastructure services and perform troubleshooting / issue resolution, and improvement activities for cloud infrastructure used across the agency.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Working directly with agency customers to understand the customer's cloud requirements and providing solutions that align with the standards and offerings of the DOL cloud services team
- Developing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for deploying cloud resources to accounts in an AWS Organizations multi account architecture
- Addressing and resolving operational incidents and alerts using tools including Service Now, SolarWinds, AWS Health, AWS Security Hub, Azure Defender, Cloud Watch Alarms
- Monitoring Cloud overall health and address/identify issues and address with cloud services team and/or cloud customers to resolve
- Responding to customer's Service Now tasks and change requests for provisioning, modifying, troubleshooting, and decommissioning cloud services
- Packaging new Unix and Windows images provided by on-prem teams for use in the cloud environments
-Supporting cloud improvement and standardization activities using Jira, and two-week SCRUM sprints (e.g., multi account, multi-account service monitoring improvements, deployment pipeline, etc.)

Required Skills

- Candidate must be a US Citizen due to government requirement
- Must hold or be able to obtain Public Trust
- Bachelor's degree and 12 years of relevant experience
- At least 4 years of experience in cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or other public cloud services with an emphasis on AWS experience
- At least 1 cloud certification at the associate level or higher in AWS
- At least 2 years of experience in DevOps Engineering including Jenkins, Ansible, Kubernetes, or other automation
- At least 2 years of experience with writing and deploying Cloud Formation Templates (CFT), Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Templates, or Terraform to provision cloud infrastructure
- At least 1+ years of Python scripting experience to support tools, monitoring, Lambda function development
- Experience working directly with customers to understand the customer
cloud requirements and providing cloud infrastructure solutions
- Experience with Jira, ServiceNow, and similar toolsets for workflow management
- Experience with SolarWinds, Splunk, and similar tools for logging and monitoring toolsets
- Experience working in an agile environment
