Dynatrace APM Engineer


Immediate need for a Dynatrace Application Performance Monitoring Engineer who will be part of a team helping our client develop automatic and intelligent observability across their cloud and hybrid environments. Creating and enhancing our customer experience with application monitoring, by being able to identify and resolve issues in real-time before they become impactful. Develop a system that monitors our clients infrastructure and applications that detects anomalies and delivers precise answers prioritized by business impact.

Responsibilities include:
- Build-out the Technical Operations Center event management and systems monitoring capability
- Employ Dynatrace expertise developing performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool
- Develop the capability in Splunk for the collection and analysis of logs, metrics, and traces from a wide range of applications, networks, systems, and other sources.
- Develop and maintain Dynatrace end-to-end performance monitoring for applications, workloads and environments
- Enable event management and analytics with Splunk to address the triage and resolution of events
- Develop and operate the infrastructure, processes, and automation that enables observability of critical assets across the organization in alignment with business priorities.
- Analyze performance data and act on negative performance trends to identify root cause
- Gather application data and diagrams, leverage expertise in recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommend performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs, and provide monitoring tool infrastructure recommendations
- Integrate multiple system alerts providing one single pane of glass monitoring solution
- Use your customer service expertise to help manage tasks and organize large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an enterprise monitoring solution

This position is a contract to permanent opportunity, affording the selected candidate career growth and stability. This position is currently 100% remote, however, we are only seeking candidates that reside in the following states: VA, MD, Wash DC, WV, PA, NC or DE.

Required Skills


Required Qualifications:
- Education - Bachelor of Science or Engineering (or equivalent work experience)
- 5 + years-of experience with systems administration and operations, including maintaining responsibility for overseeing operational performance, and performing performance trend analysis and alert generation for failed or failing services in a professional IT work environment
- 5+ years monitoring and troubleshooting experience DynaTrace monitoring tool. Experience in Dynatrace, synthetic URL monitoring, installing agents, forwarders, APIs, performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool
- Comfortable in Linux and Windows administration and common OS troubleshooting utilities
- Experience with recommending baseline monitoring thresholds, recommending performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs
- Experience with gathering and organizing large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an Enterprise monitoring solution
- Deep knowledge of relevant enterprise log analysis framework

Nice to have:
- AWS or Azure Cloud technologies, and SaaS and PaaS implementation
- Splunk or SolarWinds
- Scripting: Python, Javascript, Bash, Powershell
- Familiar with automation, DevOps, CI/CD, & IaC tools and practices: Terraform, Jenkins, Git, Ansible, Integrating with APIs
- Working understanding of good software, network, and systems design is preferred
