SQL Database Team Lead


Immediate/FTE Opportunity! Elite Technical is seeking a SQL Database Team Lead who will provide technical expertise and guidance to a team who is responsible for building, managing, and enhancing our client-s data platforms, portfolio of data services, and data analytics. Effectively implementing and managing the companys data systems is critical to delivering company services and growing the business.

You will closely collaborate with the DMA Director, the Chief of Digital Health, the IT infrastructure team, the DMA team, internal stakeholders across lines of business, as well as external partners and third-party contractors. You will be the primary technical advisor for the DMA team, who manages the companys Microsoft-based data infrastructure to ingest, secure, transform, standardize, and enrich data; and to provide timely and accurate data reporting, analytics, and exports.

You will keep abreast of industry best practices and technology trends, and identify needed improvements to data models, sources, processes, practices, and skillsets to modernize and scale the companys data management and analytics. You will support the development and execution of end-to-end roadmaps and implementation plans for sourcing and delivering accurate, timely data solutions for the companys evolving business needs, and present solutions for the purposes of adoption and education.

Essential Functions:
- Support and mentor a team of technical professionals in the areas of data architecture and structure, data security and governance, SQL query optimization, and analytics to execute business-wide data management and analytics strategies.
- Provide SQL Server database architecture and administration escalation support. Act as back-up support to DBA.
- Provide guidance for the adoption and enhancement of data security practices. Ensures data security practices conform to legal and regulatory requirements.
- Support data quality, data processing, and data stewardship initiatives throughout the organization.
- Ensure that data is centralized and modeled to a common data framework that supports data analytics requirements for all business units within the company.
- Support the development and implementation of company policies and procedures to establish controls over data and information and meet compliance and external legal/regulatory requirements.
- Support the development and implementation of management policies and procedures. Ensure change management practices meet compliance requirements.
- Evangelize development and data management best practices. Oversee effective use of source control and development tools.
- Evaluate and enhance testing protocols, practices, and frameworks. Move the development team forward in the Capability Maturity Model.
- Oversee data disaster recovery preparations and practices. Coordinate disaster recovery plans with the infrastructure team. Perform periodic testing of data disaster recovery procedures.
- Support the creation and review of technical process documentation and cross-training standards. Ensure process and procedure documentation is accurate, complete, and up to date.
- Collaborate with various business units and stakeholders to understand structural requirements and define standards for how data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed across the organization.
- Evaluate and recommend tools and technologies for data infrastructure and processing.
- Analyze the current technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement.
- Build robust and scalable solutions that transform data into useful formats to analyze, enhance data flows, and enable end users to consume and analyze data faster and easier.
- Provide performance feedback for mentored team members to the DMA Director for annual reviews.

Required Skills


- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems, Statistics, Analytics or equivalent and/or equivalent work experience.
- Expert-level skills with SQL Databases and Microsoft data technologies including SSIS and SSRS. 6-10 years of SQL Server and Microsoft data platform development and management experience, including deep knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), backup and restore processes, and replication.
- 5+ years as a Team Lead and supporting executive leadership through effective communication for strategic decision making.
- 6+ years of experience in T-SQL development, data modeling and management and complex ETL process design
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft data security technologies including integrated Windows authentication and Active Directory.
- Practical experience developing internal web applications in C# and Java (C# more important than Java. Java to C# migration exp HUGH PLUS)
- Strong understanding of data transfer utilizing APIs with a knowledge of FHIR API standards.
- Experience with SQL query optimization techniques and practices.
- Proactive team player, strong follow-through, quick decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all organizational levels.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with customers, supervisors, and co-workers.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook) including being able to effectively maintain written and electronic records in accordance with regulatory agencies.
- Ability to explain data platform architecture strategy in plain language that management can understand.
- Ability to work with structured and unstructured data from a variety of data stores.

Preferred:
- Understanding of FHIR implementation with standardized HL7 messages and use of custom messages
- Possess a deep knowledge and understanding of Microsoft technology supporting data infrastructure including Azure cloud solutions.
