Senior Training and Development Specialist


Seeking a Sr. Training and Development Specialist to provide supervision and demonstrate leadership qualities by developing, coordinating and delivering accurate operational reference material, training programs, and bargaining unit standards, and procedures. This individual will supervise and motivate employees in performing the assigned unit responsibilities, under the direction of the Manager, Systems Configuration/Testing/Training/Productivity. As a result he/she is responsible for written performance reviews for each team member, and will be expected to offer coaching, team-building and other opportunities to enable the team members to enhance their knowledge and skills. As such, he/she will maintain a pulse on the training industry through any means, including attendance at workshops and via individual research. Additional responsibilities include:

- This individual will evaluate the thoroughness and results of training activities, including reference materials, job aids, in-class and/or virtual monitoring of ongoing classes. Additionally, will develop and conduct in-house surveys in ways that result in constructive feedback, using the feedback to benefit all areas of the business.
- The incumbent will be responsible for organizing and providing standard training to new or promoted/job change employees, and in addition, will collect and prioritize, assist in development, and determine priority order of delivery for in-house requests for additional or remedial training for all organizational areas.
- The incumbent is responsible for maintaining our online procedure manual by authoring new procedures and updating existing ones in a format that is compatible with an online help system. Also responsible for maintaining training software as well as, administering and tracking all Health Plan annual compliance training. Further, this person will maintain the training departments- online document management and storage system - managing incoming requests, handling questions/suggestions, publishing new and updated policies and managing all training documents.
- The incumbent is responsible for assuring that standards are developed and maintained for applicable bargaining unit areas. Further, the role will assist when necessary and requested, in developing unit or work type specific procedures.
- The incumbent will participate in projects or programs directed at improving organizational efficiency, productivity and quality. The individual may also be assigned seats on existing or new committees related to or impacting the training department; and further, must demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with all departments in order to identify/assess the cross-departmental impact of proposed changes to systems, policies, and benefits.
- This incumbent will remain current with plan changes, such as benefit updates/corrections, new applications rollouts, and system upgrades in order to determine how these changes fit into training plans.

Required Skills


- AA degree preferred or related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years healthcare and claims training experience required. Health insurance training background (i.e. claims processing and/or customer service) is required.
- Demonstrated ability in the techniques and procedures associated with development, implementation, and presentation of training programs. Must have knowledge of virtual training methodologies to accommodate work from home staff.
- Thorough understanding of Healthcare Claims processing systems (e.g. Formworks, OnBase, QNXT, Claims Exchange, etc.)
- Exceptional verbal and written skills.
- Sound leadership/supervisory and motivational skills are critically important.
- Solid decision-making and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in an independent or team environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite as well as demonstrated expertise in various training/presentation applications.
