Our client, a leading government contractors is seeking a Personnel Security Specialist to provide security clearance processing support. Primary duties include interpreting and processing personnel background checks and credit reports on behalf of a federal client. Ensuring the efficient and accurate processing of security clearances is key to operational effectiveness and safeguarding of federal assets.
This position is Hybrid that will require you to work two days per week at the customer site in Falls Church, VA. Other days may be performed via telework, or at our client's location (your preference). The initial contract is for 6-months with the potential to extend based on job performance and business need.
Responsibilities include:
- Serves as the primary point of contact regarding the status of pending clearances or questions concerning pending investigations.
- Act as first level reviewer to ensure personnel submitted for access meets the prerequisites, personnel security and investigative requirements.
- Assists vendors with their employees- background investigations.
- Receives and reviews security clearance packages and ensures that the packages are complete.
- Contacts vendors for missing documents.
- Manages the receipt of security documents submitted from applicants and/or appointees.
- File and maintain all security clearance records according to the federal security standards.
- Verifies the appropriate level of background investigation being requested, and ensures all documents required for processing have been completed and included in the case file
- Prepares, submits, monitors, and updates appropriate computer tracking systems concerning appropriate case material.
- Communicates effectively with outside stakeholders to provide status updates, ensure compliance with agency requirements and provides agency guidance for case processing concerns.
- Validates and ensures that submitted documents meet acceptability criteria and/or takes appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies or incomplete information.
- Forwards clearance determinations to the appropriate office/stakeholders.
- US Citizenship is required due to government requirement
- Bachelor-s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Liberal Arts, or related fields, plus minimum 6 years of work experience. Six years of additional work experience may be substituted for a bachelor-s degree. Other fields of specialty will be considered.
- Must be able to obtain a government Public Trust.
- General knowledge of security concepts and principles as they apply to a personnel security program.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities to include competing projects and casework.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Ability to communicate effectively with outside stakeholders verbally and in writing.
- Good interpersonal skills
