Senior Mechanical Engineer

Our client, a leading federal defense contractor has a long-term contract opening for a Mechanical Engineer. You will be a member of a cross functional team responsible for designing, building, and testing a torpedo tube deployment system capable of launching payloads from a submarine platform.

Responsibilities:

- Design of electro-mechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environmental conditions (shock, vibration, temperature)
- Utilize CAD tools to create 3D models and drawings for technical data packages that meet ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 standards
- Perform structural and thermal analyses to meet submarine environmental requirements.

Required Skills

- Must be US Citizen due to government requirement
- Must be able to obtain Secret (active Secret is desirable)
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 8+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience.
- Advanced proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings
- Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards
- Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects with successful outcomes
- Exceptional communication skills with experience writing technical papers and proposals
- Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others
