Senior Embedded Engineer


Elite Technical's client, a start-up biotech company based in Boca Raton FL who specializes in developing cutting-edge devices that save lives and improve the quality of life for patients with all cancer diseases and stages, is seeking a Senior Embedded Engineer! The selected candidate will join and lead their medical device hardware development team. This role requires being present 5x per week at their office in Boca Raton FL working with their global R&D and clinical research teams.

As a Senior Embedded Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing next-generation oncological medical devices. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing embedded software solutions that meet the highest standards of safety and reliability. This role requires strong expertise in C and C++, FPGA, digital, and analog circuit design, as well as experience working in the medical device industry. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, physicists, product managers, clinical luminaries, and regulatory experts.

Required Skills


- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in embedded software and hardware development, with a focus on C and C++ programming.
- Experience in the medical device industry is required. Experience particularly in the development of Class II or Class III devices. Experience with medical devices (radiation therapy or radiological medical devices is a great advantage).
- Can handle a startup / fast-paced development / consistently changing environment is critically important to the long term success of this position.
- Familiarity with medical device standards such as IEC 62304, IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and FDA regulations.
- Strong real-time operating systems (RTOS) and low-level hardware interfacing knowledge.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and software development tools (e.g., JIRA, Jenkins).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to clearly document and present technical information.
- Strong knowledge and skills with circuit CAD design and simulation tools such as Altium-, Xilinx-, Cadence OrCAD-, etc.

Desired Skills & Experience
- Experience with analog circuit design in medical devices.
- Experience with signal processing algorithms for embedded modules in therapeutic devices.
- Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced development environment.
- Strong quality and regulatory experience and knowledge
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for testing and automation.
- Cloud experience
