Our client, a leading federal defense contractor is seeking an Analog Power Design Engineer to be a member of a cross functional team responsible for developing Undersea Communication systems.
The initial contract term is 6 months with the likelihood for extension or conversion based on job performance and business need. The position is 100% Onsite at our client's Design Center in McLeansville, NC.
Responsibilities will include:
- High Voltage DC Power systems / Module design including multiple power topology design from a few watts to KW+ converters.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot a problem by narrowing the point of failure sequentially through components.
- Use specialized laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment for development, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Write specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for complex electronic systems and components.
- Must be US Citizen due to government requirement
- Must be able and willing to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance (active Secret or Top Secret is preferred)
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM field and 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
- Expert level understanding of electrical engineering computer-aided design (CAD) tools and mixed Signal circuit analysis/design
- Solid use of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and theories
- Circuit Design expertise
- Analog design and instrumentation (design and analysis)
- Feedback / Control systems experience
- Power System architecture and grounding
- Isolated Switching Converters
- Transmission Line Effects in power systems
- EMI test and control methods (MIL-STD-461, FCC / IDE / VDE, etc)
- Magnetics Design and High Speed Design experience are desirable
- Strong troubleshooting ability: must be able to diagnose a problem by narrowing the point of failure sequentially through components
- The use of specialized laboratory equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment for development, testing, and troubleshooting
- Experience in writing specifications, requirements, and verification procedures for complex electronic systems and components
- Ahead of technology trends with Research & Development (R&D) experience, as well as advanced proficiency in test, troubleshooting, and analyzing circuit card schematics
- Motivated to drive innovation around design architectures, assembly, component selection, and electronics design
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills with demonstrated success leading design teams for complex projects
