Our client, a leading federal defense contractor has an immediate opening in Manassas, VA for a Lead Systems / Electrical Engineer for the Transmit Group (TG). In this role you will lead a small cross functional team responsible for the design, requirements, development, manufacturing, integration, production and life cycle maintenance of active sonar TG onboard all U.S. Navy legacy and emergent submarine classes. You will collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders and customers developing and delivering high power systems and sensors that meet their high expectations.
The initial contract is for 3-6 months with the strong potential to extend or convert based on job performance. The selected candidate will be required to work 100% onsite Monday to Friday in Manassas, VA and occasional travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with development, system engineering, and production teams to accurately identify, characterize, resolve, document, and track hardware deficiencies.
- Troubleshoot and resolve transmit group hardware issues in the system integration and test, production, and power lab environments.
- Develop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain issues to program management and Navy customer team.
- Create, review, and execute hardware design documentation such as interface control drawings, assembly drawings, test procedures, and other technical documents.
- Research and develop product specifications and interface requirements.
Resolve complex hardware/software compatibility and interface design issues.
- Evaluate components to determine performance impacts to existing designs.
- Exceptional communication skills with the capacity to drive innovation and secure buy-in on concepts and ideas
- Interact with customers at technical and programmatic levels.
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in STEM field and 8+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree.
Required:
- Understanding of power/analog hardware and systems, and electronics troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with hardware and system integration testing (Assembly Level Test / Unit Test / Integration Test / System Performance Test).
- Expert-level understanding of hardware development processes throughout the lifecycle of the program or project
- Experience with circuit card design using advanced materials and packaging techniques
- Collaborative, creative thinker with demonstrated success leading design teams for complex projects
- Working knowledge of the Linux
Desired:
- High speed circuit card design incorporating embedded processors or FPGAs,
- Acoustics and/or Sonar applications
- Familiarity with computer-aided design (CAD)
