Elite Technical is looking for an experienced and passionate Product Engineer that meets the following requirements:
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering from
an ABET accredited university (or equivalent)
Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience in engineering design and development. Seat soft trim i.e.
foam & plastics design-development experience is required with 4+ years of CAD design experience
Skill Requirements:
- Relevant Experience in seat foam and plastics design with focus on molded component design -
understands foam & plastic manufacturing processes & designing in context
- Deep knowledge of foam & plastic alternative materials & involved design considerations
- Product knowledge of automotive/commercial Seating System
- Seat comfort & ergonomics expertise, occupant packaging experience will be a plus
- 4+ years of working experience in SOLIDWORKS - Very good surfacing skills along with solid (part)
design, assembly design & drawings/annotations. Experience in CATIA V5 can also be considered
- Good understanding of foam, plastic, seat trimming & craftsmanship requirements is required
- Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DVP, APQP, QFD and other engineering tools
- Knowledge about safety standards (FMVSS-CMVSS-SAE specs) is preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, DFA-DFM
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers, suppliers and cross functional teams
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage foam/trim/plastic suppliers to meet program deliverables and resolve open issues
- Lead foam & plastic design & development as per program scope
- Validate the seat comfort, manage open issues & conduct assessments to meet comfort objectives
- Provides alternative design solutions, analyses, justifications and recommendations throughout the
development cycle
- Facilitates selection of designs that achieve best possible trade-off of cost, timing, and performance
- Review class A-surfaces for manufacturability & feasibility to eventually transform into foam design
- Lead steps to optimize foam, trim, comfort and craftsmanship
- Ensures that all appropriate tests are performed & recorded (work with inhouse test cell)
- Ensures that product designs meet customer requirements and/or project targets
- Engages with cross functional team to review, revise & communicate designs effectively
- Maintains & updates BOMs throughout the development process
- Implementing lessons learnt as ongoing tasks

* 6-8 years experience w/ new product development in the automotive space with Foam/Seating
* Experience with conceptual design
* 4 yrs experience with Solidworks
